Anthropology Minor
A minor in anthropology provides students with an opportunity to explore anthropology and enhance their knowledge of the human condition. This minor compliments any number of majors particularly biology, history, and languages. The minor also provides many of the human interaction skills that industry is seeking these days, therefore engineering, business, and nursing majors can benefit from an anthropology minor. A minor in anthropology prepares students for a wide variety of job opportunities again due to the skills that are learned in these courses: human interaction, understanding human diversity, critical thinking, research, and organization.
The minor requires students to take the following courses:
- ANTH 201 Cultural Anthropology
- ANTH 202 Physical Anthropology
- ANTH 203 World Archaeology OR ANTH303 Archaeology
- Then students can select any other three courses (9 hours) they chose, with at least 6 hours at the 300-400 level.
There are several other minors and majors that include anthropology courses. Students in these majors may find an anthropology minor beneficial or students in anthropology may find these minors of interest:
- Applied Forensic Sciences (joint minor between Criminal Justice and Anthropology)
- Cajun and Creole Studies
- Criminal Justice Forensics
- Gender and Sexuality Studies
- Latin American Studies
